Pakistan’s trade deficit widens to $23.38bn in July – March 2016/2017

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s trade deficit has widened to $23.38 billion during July – March 2016/2017, showing increase of 38.8 percent when compared with the deficit of $16.84 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Tuesday.

Dar emphasizes on all out efforts during last quarter for achieving Rs3,621 billion collection target

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has praised the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for achieving 16.2 percent revenue growth in March 2017, comparing same month of last year, and emphasized that all out efforts must continue to achieve Rs3,621 billion collection target during the last quarter of 2016/2017.

Senate committee asks FBR to stop raids on business premises

KARACHI: Senate Committee on Finance and Revenue took a serious notice of the raids on the business community by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and summoned all chambers of commerce and industries, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and ministry of finance.

KARACHI: Pakistan has imported 60,000 vehicles during first nine months of current fiscal year. The import of vehicles pushed the auto sales including LCV’s and Jeeps to witness robust double digit growth in the period under review.

Jameel Ahmed appointed as SBP deputy governor

KARACHI: The government appointed Jameel Ahmad, presently working as Executive Director, State Bank of Pakistan as Deputy Governor of the central bank for a period of three years with effect from April 11, 2017, SBP said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
