Commerce ministry invites suggestions on next 5-year trade policy

ISLAMABAD: The commerce ministry has asked stakeholders to provide their suggestions by January 10, 2018 for formulation of next five-year strategic trade policy framework (STPF) 2018-2023.
In a circular issued on Friday, it said that the commerce division was initiating broad-based consultative process to formulate succeeding policy for the period of five years, instead of three years, to keep consistency in the regulations & incentives.
The scope of STPF 2018-2023 shall encompass issues pertaining to supply chain development, market access initiatives, trade promotion and trade facilitation. Furthermore, the regulatory measures shall be simplified with the view to reduce cost of doing business and facilitate business community to avoid unnecessary hurdles in importing and exporting goods of their requirements and at the same time, ensure address legitimate health, environment and security concerns.
The ministry of commerce advised all the stakeholders to share their valuable views/ suggestions by January 10, 2018 to enable the ministry to formulate a sound, effective and operative trade policy.
