Pakistan Customs surpasses 11-month collection target


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Customs has surpassed eleven months duty and tax collection target by collecting Rs534 billion, which exceeded by Rs3 billion.
Talking to a new channel, Member Customs Zahid Khokhar said that the increase in revenue collection had been witnessed in all heads including customs duty, federal excise duty, sales tax and income tax. The prime reason of increase in revenue collection was enhanced economic activities.
He said that the revenue collection target for July – May was Rs531 billion which was surpassed by Rs3 billion.
He said that due to imposition of regulatory duty on non-essential and luxury items the import volume was reduced yet the collection was increased.
The Member hoped to achieve current fiscal year target of Rs579 billion by June 30, 2018.
