Dam fund raising crosses to Rs3.2bn: SBP points


KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has received an amount over Rs3.2 billion as collection for fund established for the construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Fund.

As per latest donation the SBP collected Rs3.212 billion till September 13, 2018.
The SBP on September 07 directed banks to change the title of the Fund account to the “Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan Fund for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam.” All commercial and microfinance banks are accordingly advised to change the title of the Fund account in their systems and books of accounts.
The respective account number and IBAN of banks shall, however, remain the same and the banks shall continue to collect donations and settle the same with SBP as per existing arrangements, the SBP said.
As per reports after the appeal made by Prime Minister Imran Khan the overseas Pakistanis were taking more interest and were sending donations to this account.
Considering water scarcity in the country the Chief Justice of Pakistan decided to take initiative for construction of mega reservoirs in the country for future of the country. The statistics is showing donations from July 06, 2018.
