ISLAMABAD: A high level delegation of renowned UAE construction company Emaar called on Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, federal minister for housing and works in his office, a statement said on Friday.
Both sides discussed the recently initiated innovative idea of constructing five million houses in Pakistan in order to fight against poverty in the country.
During the meeting, Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, Federal Minister for housing and works apprised the delegation about the Government’s plan to house five million citizens in high-rise buildings which are to be constructed across the country.
He said that as a part of anti-poverty crusade over five years this government intends to construct five million affordable homes for the poor and vulnerable segments of the society at any cost and in this regard registration process has already been begun.
He also said that Government’s outlook for attracting Foreign Direct Investment is improving day by day. Ch. Tariq Bashir Cheema, while the course of the meeting, also said that under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directives, the Ministry of Housing and Works, Ministries of Law and Ministries of Finance have already hammered out a sustainable proposal that will be presented to the Prime Minister for approval.
He further said that the modalities and details are still being worked out but we are confident that the project will support other industries and is also going to have a positive impact on the economy as well.
He also conveyed that he holds quite high hopes regarding substantial increase in investment from UAE companies in future. The delegation appreciated the efforts of the government and the steps taken while battling for the well-being and betterment of the nation and offered for the investment in the ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.’ Other officials of Ministry of Housing and Works also attended the meeting.
