SRB suspends sales tax registration of M/s. Fiber Link

KARACHI: Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has suspended sales tax registration of M/s. Fiber Link (Private) Limited for failing to make payment and filing of monthly sales tax returns.
The SRB suspended the sales tax registration of the company on May 21, 2018 on the ground that they failed:
— To make the payment of Sindh sales tax on services pertaining to tax periods from July 2011 to June 2013, from March 2014 to June 2015 and from April 2016 to February 2017;
— To e-file the Sindh sales tax return in time for aforementioned periods.
Accordingly, the company was served upon show cause notice on April 05, 2017 and same is still pending. During the proceedings, the registered taxpayer deposited the tax amount and e-filed the returns for the tax periods April 2016 to February 2017, however, failed to do so for the remaining tax periods.
The SRB said that the taxpayers had provided taxable services, charged and collected the tax, however, deliberately or willfully did not deposit into the Sindh government treasury within the time. The show cause notice is pending since April 05, 2017, however, registered person failed to comply with the same. This is serious violation of provincial tax laws, the SRB said.
The SRB asked the company to take remedial action by June 05, 2018 otherwise its registration would be proceeded for cancellation of the registration. The company asked to take remedial action:
— To discharge the sales tax amount of Rs18.45 million along with default surcharge.
— To e-file the true and correct monthly sales tax returns for the tax periods.
The SRB also encouraged the taxpayer to avail the announced relief package that offered opportunity to pay-off arrears while enjoying relief from the 100 percent waiver of penalty and such amount of default surcharge.
