Forex reserves increase by $126m on amnesty inflows


KARACHI: The official foreign exchange reserves held by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have increased by $126 million to $9.789 billion by week ended June 29, the central bank said on Thursday.
Market sources said that the inflows were mainly repatriation of foreign assets under amnesty scheme.
They said that the addition would give some respite amid serious external repayment pressure.
The foreign exchange held by SBP was at $9.662 billion by week ended June 22.
The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at $16.385 billion on June 29, 2018.
The net foreign reserves held by commercial banks was at $6.596 million.
