ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has prepared crackdown plan against tax evaders that will be launched in four phases, sources said on Monday.
The sources said that under first phase the FBR would launch action against 148 cases of non-filers who invested above Rs20 million in immovable properties and purchased luxury motor vehicles above 3000 cc.
In the next phase, the revenue body identified 75 tax evaders across the country. Out of this, 59 cases are of purchase of immovable properties declared value of Rs 20 million and above, and another 10 purchased motor vehicle with engine capacity of 1800 cc and above. While, six cases are of those who were receiving annual rent of Rs 10 million and above.
In the third phase, the FBR would go after 220 tax evaders, who were non-filers of income tax returns. The sources said that about 191 cases had purchase motor vehicles with engine capacity of 1800CC and above and another 29 cases were related to purchase of immovable properties, where declared value was above Rs20 million.
In the final phase, the FBR decided to launch action against builders. The sources said that the FBR had identified 22 high-rises including eight at Karachi, 12 in Islamabad and two plazas are in Lahore.
