ISLAMABAD: The government has allowed import of armored vehicle to a person is a filer of income tax returns and paying Rs30 million as income tax in a year.
In case of company or an institution the import of armored vehicle is allowed in case payment of annual Rs300 million as income tax.
A policy issued by the ministry of interior for import of armored vehicles, stated that the policy would regulate the following aspects:
a. Import of new and used armored vehicles
b. Import of material and components / parts for the fabrication or armoring of vehicle
c. Permission for setting up an establishment for armoring of vehicles
d. Purchase and sale of armored vehicles; and
e. Matters ancillary to the above.
As per policy there will be no import, purchase/sale of armored vehicles or retrofitting / armoring of vehicles without permission from ministry of interior.
As per policy matters no person, except under an authorization of the ministry of interior and in the matter spelt out herein, shall:
a. Import an armored vehicle;
b. Carry armoring of vehicles domestically and sale / purchase thereof;
c. Import raw material, and components/ parts for use in the armoring of vehicles or retrofitting in existing armored vehicles.
d. Purchase, sell, keep, use, rent out or destruct an armored vehicle;
e. Set up an establishment for armoring of vehicles.
The ministry said that all NOCs/authorization issued before this policy will cease to be valid after one year of publication of this policy.
