ISLAMABAD: The new government, likely to be formed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf, may order revenue authorities to conduct income tax audit of all the members of the parliament to set example of accountability for all taxpayers
Sources in Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) told PkRevenue.com that nominated finance minister Asad Umar has intention to conduct income tax audit of all the parliamentarians to give people encouragement that elected representatives had documented assets.
In the first phase the income tax audit would be conducted of all the Members of National Assembly (MNAs) irrespective of their party affiliation.
In the next phase the tax audit of Member of Provincial Assemblies (MPAs) would be conducted.
The sources said that the purpose of this income tax audit was not to generate revenue but only for confidence building of other compliant taxpayers and encourage other people having taxable money and out of tax net.
